The Mystery Machine is the iconic vehicle used by the crime-fighting gang in the Scooby-Doo franchise . The van is immediately recognizable by fans of the series, appearing in both animated and live-action form over the franchise's 50-year run . The van is medium blue with green accents and orange flowers . The origins of the Mystery Machine are shrouded in mystery, but Scooby lore has it that it was previously owned by a traveling family band known as the Mystery Kids before being sold to Fred Jones, leader of Mystery Inc. . The van is equipped with all the necessary equipment to solve the most mysterious cases, and it can house all the favorite characters of the franchise . The van has been depicted differently throughout the years, with some early episodes showing it as a mid-60s Chevy G-Body panel or a Dodge A100, while in later episodes, it looks more like a minivan, maybe a Chevy Astro or a GMC Safari . There are five main characters in the franchise: Scooby-Doo, Norville "Shaggy" Rogers, Fred Jones, Daphne Blake, and Velma Dinkley—known as "Mystery Incorporated"
